For many many years we have had a sail boat. The thing about boats is that you have to remove and store all your belongings each winter. For many years, we stored our stuff in our basement. I think many people user their garages, but we didn’t have one in the city. If you live in an urban area, storing your things is difficult. So one year we decided that putting the stuff in our basement just wasn’t going to work. See More Info.

So we looked into storage units in nearby locations. There turned out to be a storage unit for rent not too far down the road. I’m thinking this is the case all over now and that storage units are really easy to locate. I think have been building and building them. I guess that the companies in this business have decided that this is a growth market. Anyway, back to my story.

So we rented a storage unit near by. We moved all the stuff from the boat to the storage unit in the car. This took many many trips. What I found was that because we were so close, I actually took more things off the boat and into storage. And actually, that’s very good for the stuff you are storing. The big issue here is mold. The storage unit was climate controlled, so there was no humiditiy. This kept our stuff from being stinky or moldy.

On other occasions, expanding businesses may require opening new branches in the same city or in another location. Any of these two variations involves a considerable amount of time, money and effort. Businesses require their office equipment, furniture and wherewithal to function right. These equipment are expensive. It makes better sense, and is economical, to shift the belongings of a business rather than spend money at the new place in buying fresh items.
