It was not all that long ago that our friends decided to move from DC. They had lived here for a number of years. You tend to make friends with people who live near you. I believe they were also home owners on the West Coast the entire time that they hung out here. They had to keep storage units in many places to house their stuff because they were so spread out.

After deciding to move back to their first house, they needed to find storage units for all their stuff. There were many options and sizes that they could use, and they were happy to know that the storage unit could be placed on their street. We’re sad that they decided to move away. From time to time they talk about coming back, we hope they do.

Otherwise, they will just settle to the bottom and leave your belongings unprotected. Instead, use towels, blankets, pillows, and other soft, washable furnishings. Each time you think you have fully packed the storage pod, try to move the boxes. If they shift at all, work in more padding.
If the moving storage container is large enough, you may be able to use rope to secure your belongings instead.
Standard packing material such as Styrofoam bubble wraps and thermo Cole packing are also provided by the companies to enhance safety of the equipment being transported.
In case the small business does not have a ready office at the new place, self storage companies offer to store away the entire container at their company warehouses. The charges asked are reasonable and competitive so the business owner can get a good bargain. Also, most self storage warehouses have round the clock surveillance through CCTV and security guards which guarantees the safety of the business equipment from theft. Warehouses are so built and located that common climatic conditions of rain storm and hurricanes are taken care of.
You will take more care not to damage your own things too. Hired movers can sometimes damage your things.
Once you are finished filling up the moving pods and ready to move, just call and have it delivered where you want it. They can store it for you at their facilities if your new house is not ready yet.
You will not even have to drive a moving truck in rain or snow.
One basic questions you should ask the storage and moving company is if they give free estimates. When you find one to give you an estimate, have them come over and look at your things before you hire them. Make sure they have insurance to cover any lost or damaged items.
Most storage and moving companies can pack things up for you too. They charge more for this service but it may be worth it to you if you do not have the time to do it yourself.
The moving storage warehouse was climate controlled and set up with security surveillance cameras. We also were able to keep the key to our container. Given that we did not pack things that well, since we thought the storage box was going to live in the backyard, we were able to repack a few things and remove some items.
It is a very good thing our stuff was securely stowed at a moving storage place. It ended up taking the contractors 6 months longer than originally anticipated, which is what everyone always tells you.
